Trezorix was founded in 2000 by the Dutch National Museum of Natural History, Naturalis and a couple of information technology companies. Together they had been involved for some years in the realisation of a large number of very successful computer games and internet applications for the "new Naturalis", which was opened in 1998. Until now Trezorix and Naturalis are still working closely and energetically together in the development of applications that help the museum and its many partners - like small and large nature organisations, scientific institutions and the Dutch ministry of agriculture - to play a leading role as innovative knowledge institutions in the area of biodiversity. From this background, Trezorix has developed into an expert in connecting all sorts of sources into knowledge networks, and in making information within those networks findable in an optimal way. Much of this development is done within projects with knowledge institutions like museums, libraries, ministries, universities, and partner companies. Together they have at their disposal a wide range of semantic web based innovative tools for working with metadata and reference structures, and for making all sorts of data findable. Trezorix was the initiator the RNA project (Reference Network Architecture), a Web 3 type of project, supported by the Dutch ministries of Education and Economic Affairs, dealing with best practices for setting up dynamic knowledge systems. Together with Naturalis Trezorix was also the initiator of the STERNA project, which can be seen as the European follow up of the RNA project. Further information: http://www.trezorix.nl
