Archipelagos, Greece |
Archipelagos - Institute of Marine & Environmental Research of the Aegean Sea is a Greek non-profit, non-governmental environmental organisation. It combines scientific research on the biodiversity of the marine and terrestrial environments of the Aegean Sea and islands with efficient conservation work in which the local communities play an active role. Marine research focuses on the studies of coastal ecosystem biodiversity, marine mammal populations, fisheries, conservation and management of marine ecosystems, as well as on assessing marine pollution. The conservation work of Archipelagos also includes environmental education (addressing both island schools and communities as well as the general public in Greece), making use of the data and audiovisual material collected in research expeditions and relevant multimedia products.
