Naturhistorisches Museum/Gemeinde Amaroussion, Griechenland

The Natural History Museum of the Municipality of Amaroussion was established in 1998. It includes a wide-ranged (over 7,000) collection of embalmed animals of the Greek and worldwide fauna, including mammals, birds, reptiles, insects and shells.

The museum’s main responsibilities are the dissemination of knowledge, scientific research, the protection of the natural heritage and the strengthening of the environmental consciousness. A major part of its work focuses on its educational work and outreach programmes, i.e. organising age-specific tours, developing programmes for children to enhance environmental consciousness, supporting a special children’s library, offering workshops, lectures and exhibitions and conducting various local awareness raising activities.
